Att: Weissenborn owners

Aloha,
I'm doing a survey, What tuning do you primarily use on your Weiss(or copy)?...I find I change strings constantly...mine sounds best in open C CGCGCE, or low bass G...which I use when I play with Slack key guitarists...but, I am much more comfortable in C6, but the guitar doesn't seem to resonate as well...any others find a way around this?...(besides buying 2?)

I got the all-time best open sound out of my Bear Creek Weissenborn using open "E" tuning. But these days, after some trial & error, I keep it in A6th (same as C6th tuned down or hi to low: C#,A,F#,E,C#,A. I get a more resonant, lovely sound than I got in C6th or Bb6th and the best part is I can use a standard set of "G" tuning Dobro strings.
The general dryness of the climate/time of year seems to have a big effect on the quality of the sound of the hollow necked Weissenborn design.

Been using E major, A major and C#m7 a lot. Mine's strung with something close to a medium set of standard phosphor bronze guitar strings. Probably not the best soundwise, but a decent compromise. Tuning down to G major is a little weak.
