You will need an interface unit for instruments and mic's, if you don't have a mixer. The PC sound cards need a higher signal level (e.g. line level) and won't work or work correctly with an instrument level. Mic's the same way, the level from a P.A. type mic is about 1/100 of what a "computer" mic is.

If you have a mixer, you can use the stereo "Line in" on a sound card for two channel recording. If you want more than two channels then you will have to buy a multi-channel interface and what type depends on your PC and it's capabilities.

Mike, my experience is that BIAB lets you add 1 live part to the BIAB mix.

good luck

How about this? 16 Tracks, and free. Check out the users music.

Of course it doesn't support MIDI. If you need that try n-Tracks Studio

Good luck to you,
