I think the mass induction really belittles the honor. And, what the HELL are the Everly brothers doing in the country music hall of fame, same for Elvis. The CMA is ruining every part of country music. Where is Carl Smith? Everly brothers my a$$. Where are the Wilburn Bro.? Not only their music but the business end of their contribution.....Loretta Lynn, Osborne Bros. (there's another should be Hall of fame member), Wil-helm Talent agency etc.....

| Glad to see the Louvin Brothers made it in! Now there is top notch music, IMHO. I haven't heard one song they wrote that wasn't terrific. Too bad Nashville today can't come up with moving melodies like they did. |

I agree with Kevin 1000%!!! I've got a cat that sounds more country. Now don't get me wrong, I love the Everly's music,. But country, THEY AIN'T.

I agree that haveing the best steelguitar player in the world playing for you,still do'nt make you sound country.We know Buddy Emmon's could play behind anyone and do them a great justice.Just think Bryan White is a realgood example of what I'm saying,for he has a steel guitar player in his band,but he's along way from being country.I love to hear the Everly Brother's music,but they are not to be considered country.Now where in the world did they come up with the idear that the Jordenaire's were country ?I'm sure glad I do'nt watch that mess anymore .Now as mentioned above,Carl Smith,Webb Pierse,the Willburn Brothers,Don William,Don Gibson.These are well deserved canidates for the HOF

The Everly brothers had no impact on country music (except for helping take the fiddle and steel out so country could compete with rock and roll in the late 50's- early 60's) and just because they did a hippy folk song about Kentucky doesn't give them ample merit for being in the County Music Hall of Fame.

John Denver sang a couple of song's that were clasified as country.Because of his crossover dabbleing in country,he was brought to the forefront.And crowned entertainer of the year.I made mention of him to use's as an example also.There are alot of people that can sing a fair country song.The old rocking chair,mention above that the Everly Brother did,was a slow well harmonized song.But they are more known for Wake up little Suzy .But I think there are alot more deserveing people.People that have walked the walk and talked the talk of a country music artist.People who put there time in the trench'es so to speak.people who excuelley lived some of the songs they sang,People who played the road gig's work the state fair's.people who also took time to shake a hand,give an autografe, stop by a radio station.People who were country to the bone.people who payed their due's to the country music fan's, by sticking to their roots, Not crossover materiel.

As far as Shot's guitar goes, I was told awhile back that the new building would have all new stuff never seen before that had been stored somewhere. That's how many artifacts they have. Excuse the spelling please.

If they are going to start inducting rock and roll artist and producers why not put Jerry Lee Lewis in. At least he did some legitimate country music in the late 60's thru the 70's. (I know even his first record was "Crazy Arms" but it was in a rockabilly/rock and roll style)
Or, just have a Nashville music hall of fame and put all the folk, rock, hippy, blues, cool cat non country people they want. Isn't that what they really want to do anyway? Not have any association with "country" music.

I have a friend who works at the hall of fame. He told me that they only display ONE piece of memorabilia from each of the older stars (while the new stars are VERY well represented). The tourist are asking "Where is all the old stuff?" and the people in charge are asking themselves "Why do the people want to see the old stuff?". This is what we are up against. Great discussion but from where I set if they are not 100% country they don't belong in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
That does'nt mean I have a problem with mixing up their music styles because I like them all, but having one or two country hits
to me should not give them access to the Hall
of Fame.
True the Everly brothers grew up country and their father was country, but would they be nominated for that reason if they had recorded acid rock or rap????..
