Usually it's just a matter of using a blade to cut around the nut to avoid pulling up any finish then putting a block of wood against it and tapping towards the tuner side.
If the nut is deeply embeded it may need to be tapped to the side and if heavily glued you may need to destroy it by running a saw cut down the middle across it from side to side down to the base and tapping from both sides to collapse it.
