Feel stops?? Is this what its called?

Post by Tim Toberer »

I am just brainstorming, but I am considering adding a feel stop to one or 2 raises. My guitar uses a pull release changer and generally I limit this to one raise and one lower per pedal. I have noticed after playing for a while it would be nice to have an additional half step raise on my high string. So I could go from E to F then press a little harder and go to F#. A whole tone raise. I have gotten pretty good at doing what I call a pedal assisted pull where I engage the pedal and do a behind the bar pull to get the F#, but this would be much better with all pedal action. This change allows me to get 13 chords with a root, #9 with a root, #11 on a raise instead of a lower and root on top chords, and god knows what else! As well as imitating the B to C# change on an E9.

Anyone have any idea how to do this? Maybe a compression spring that would create the stop for the F then compress to reach the F#? Any graphics or pictures of how this is done would be amazing! I could always add another pedal, but I think 8 is already enough!

Okay these 2 threads seem to be talking about the same thing. Now how to make it work on my guitar...
