Enter the wayback machine... I am looking for DAW software that can run under Windows7. Ideally it would be able to edit 32 bit float WAV files. Ideally it would not need to be connected tot he internet.
Background: I have been happily using Cakewalk Home Studio (ancient) under WinXP (mo ancient) with Delta Auto 1010lt 8track audio PCI cards (prehistoric). These machines never even get near a network. I can keep using them for recording only and switch to editing on a later model PC but would prefer to do everything on one box.
Leaving the wayback machine; I recently starting using a field recorder with 32 bit float capability. I would like to be able to edit those files. This is what's dragging me into this century primarily.

Thanks John, I may take a look. I have been using CW software since the beginning but they are not the same company any more. I have been thinking of jumping ship.
I installed Reaper on an old Win7 laptop and within an hour was able to do almost everything I had doing with CW in short order using the built-in audio interface. If Reaper plays nicely with my Delta Audio PCI cards in the XP boxes then I'm sold. Recording 16 tracks simultaneously will be the acid test. MIDI already looks like it will work well enough.
