ZKing 8-string keyless lap steel Now $500 shipped CONUS

Post by David Becker »

2" mahogany and maple (guessing on the maple - Johnie, feel free to chime in), 25" scale, BL 705, A6 tuning. Stays in tune. Beautiful inlaid fretboard. Tone and sustain monster: when I first brought to a lesson, my teacher strummed it before even plugging in and let out a big OOOOOOOH! when he heard it.

I really hate to part with it, but I've settled on short scale.

I converted Johnie's shipping box to a hard case - never done anything like that before, but it works well. Case included.

I believe I let my own love for this instrument colored my valuation of it. Reality strikes deep! Now $500 shipped to CONUS.

WoW lap steel

Post by Dennis Wireman »

Another great Johnie King built with keyless one. Plus like I said do not see these come up for sale often and nice job done on the case.

Thanks, Dennis. I admit I felt a little strange posting my ZKing for sale soon after you posted yours. I figured 8 strings, keyless, different wood and different body shape was enough difference that I wouldn't be stepping on your toes, at least too badly. I completely agree that Johnie's lap steels don't get offered often, and we both know why - they are terrific instruments, built by a true craftsman.
