Hipshot Doubleshot on an Asher lap steel

I want to install a hipshot double shot on an Asher Electro-Hawaiian Jr and was looking for any feedback if someone has done a similar install.
I saw a helpful tutorial on dobro installation but was wondering if the tailpiece would fit a lap steel.
Or is there another type of hipshot bridge that works better for a lap steel?
Appreciate any input on the process.
