Dean Rankin

Post by Harley James »

Sadly my long time friend Dean Rankin peacefully passed away at his home on January 3rd. He was a wonderful player and a generous person. I am missing him already.

Very sorry to hear this. I just bought a steel from Dean and he was a good person to deal with. He mentioned he had some health issues that were hindering him, but I didn't realize he was hurting so bad.

Go rest high on that mountain Dean :)

That is a total shock to me

Dean was a great guy. I use to see him at the WA swing music society shows. We always had a good time. Very good swing and jazz player. It certainly won't be the same.
Rest in peace my friend.

Whenever the Keith Holter band came to the Sacramento Western Swing Society, or when I would go to Seattle, Dean and I would catch up and talk pedal steel guitar. Truly a great musician and wonderful person... I will miss him dearly.

I first met Dean with Joni Harms, playing a smoking western set back in the day. I learned a lot every time I saw him, but he was always very humble and quiet about his playing. Not to be forgotten.
