Seat builders - Spec for seat foam?

I'm re-upholstering the seat and back of my Steelers Choice seat.

If needed, I'll replace the seat foam.

Can anyone share the specs for the foam. Online it looks like there's hundreds of variations. Not sure which is correct for a pedal steel seat knowing that under compression the height of the seat is a consideration.

Contact Dan at Steeler’s Choice. You should be able to get replacement foam from him.

I am not suggesting it to anyone, but I use and prefer the thin foam used in camping ground sleep mats or exercise mats. I believe the foam is 3/4" or less thick. I know it goes against popular logic, but I find it much more comfortable in a long-time sitting session than with thick foam. I find the thinner foam easier to get the correct seat height as well. It is also easy to find and not expensive. This is only my preference and opinion, yours may be different and that is good too.

Bill, I've never thought about your method, but think it has merit.

I'd like to know what foam it was that Joe Naylor used on his SteelSeats which for my behind seems firmer and doesn't bottom out over time like the SteelersChoice does. My 2 cents... not Hz

Dale, Joe told me at a show that it was a foam used in aviation. I believe the stuff used in seats for astronauts. I think he posted it on the forum before.

If you Google, Air Craft Seat Foam. Several sites will come up, Not Cheap.

I visited a St L, MO Foam Shop looking for product to replace my Pak-A-Seat's existing foam.

The store owner didn't have any in stock, but his recommendation was to purchase the type used in those kneel-down garden pads.

If Joe is getting his from where I got mine when I started SteelSeat .com get it!
You can't beat it and you sure don't want the soft crap that leaves you sitting on the board at the end of each break after all the air goes out of it like what Sho-Bud and another manufacturer used and still use.
They use it because it's cheap and this isn't.
It's the BEST hands down you can get anywhere
