Willie Nelson

Post by Barry Yasika »

Got the chance to see Willie tonite. Just him, his son, a stand up bassist, harmonica player and a drummer who only seemed to have a snare, definitely not a full drum kit. It was awesome to see him after all these years. He sang a newer song called "If I die high, I'll Be Half Way to Heaven". Kinda resonated with me. As soon as he showed up the inescapable aroma of marijuana filled the air. There were young hippie cowboys and cowgirls all the way to old geezers like me with and without ponytails. I'm so glad I got the chance to see him. The last time I remember being that blown away by any "music scene" was the first time a friend and I camped out for Grateful Dead "Tickets" back in 1972, much less going to the show. Either way, no steel guitar but still definitely worth experiencing.
