Claude Gray-- If I ever need a lady, I'll call you
The original recording of this on a Decca 45 can be found on youtube. Whoever played the steel, has a great style. I figured out how to copy it exactly, using the same pedals, frets and strings that he used. I'm still curious as to who it was playing steel on that original recording. Anybody have a clue? Thanks, Tommy.....

Claude Gray has a lot of great steel playing on his old Decca 45's!

This just in from my good friend, Lloyd:
Hi Ricky,
To let you know I haven’t left the planet…yet… and to let Tommy Auldridge know I played steel on “If I Ever Need a Lady, I’ll Call You” by Claude Gray.
We recorded the song at Bradley’s Barn during a 10pm session on a cold Wednesday night, 15 March, 1967 for Decca Records.
Tommy posed the question in the Music section of the Forum.
Lova ya Ricky,
Lloyd G.

Here's the Sho~Bud "Fingertip" that Lloyd played on All those Claude Gray songs; and it's behind glass now after I restored it; in the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum in Nashville.

Really, Really Cool
Ricky: I'm so pleased that Lloyd took the time to give us all that information. I'm sure Lloyd remembers my brother Mike. Mike played Dobro on one of Lloyd's performances at the Station Inn. Thanks, Tommy.....

Every time I've asked Lloyd about something from history; he tells me out of sheer memory; not from something written down. His Memory is clear as a bell.
