Here's a preview of two solos I'll be covering next month for an online course on Joaquin Murphey and Noel Boggs for Centrum's Red Hot Strings Workshop that might interest some of you non-pedalers.

These are two of my all-time favorite solos by Murph and Boggs. And since they're playing over virtually the same tune, with the same band, just a few years apart, they serve as an ideal case study to compare the styles of these two individualistic players.

There will be workshops all weekend for tenor banjo, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and string bass. Oh, yeah....."Florida" has been my favorite Murphey solo since I first heard it 35 or 40 years ago. Completely cuckoo and typically Joaquin.

Not enough people have heard it. The last I looked it wasn't on Youtube....and hasn't been reissued since the original Cooley LP as far as I know.

This was a fantastic weekend event, filled with lots of interesting courses across multiple instruments and styles. If anyone is looking at this thread, and considering going in the future I highly recommend it.
