Not exactly a new product but now soon to be available once again. Re-posted from Our Extended Family- "When Buddy told me that he was done selling his courses because it was too much hassle I (long story) convinced his to let me do the duplicating and distributing as it was too great a body of work to just let die. After his passing and I had exhausted most of what I had paid him for, the money that I would have paid him now goes to the Country Music Hall of Fame under Buddy and Peggy's names. The problem for me was that the Step One recordings that I had in stock were gone and without them them Buddy's courses existed w/o the original recordings and one had only to guess about the phrasings, etc, that he used. I had tried numerous times to find Ray without luck until this post where I was provided his phone number. I then contacted Ray(great guy)- explained my predicament, and he had most of the original courses left and we worked out a deal where I could purchase them from him so they will be once again available and I am extremely happy to be able to provide them to folks. Thanks again to Larry Petree for his assistance!"

to guess about the phrasings, etc, that he used . .

Buddy has provided all of the phrasings, or
'musical timing' in the series of dots just
below the bottom of each line of tabulature.

Notes above a dot fall on that corresponding
beat. When there are two notes before the next
dot, they are eighth-notes. If there are three
note 'per dot', they are triplets, etc., you
get the idea . . .

Rather clever, in that it doesn't involve
musical symbols, thereby keeping 'reading
from instrument-specific diagrams' rather
'unto itself' and doesn't delve in to the
area of 'conventional musical notation'

I can understand Buddy's 'dot system' and it's quite clever. However, I can't 'see' the phrasing at a glance and am more at home with actual music-notation.

But Russ is correct - the info is there; it just takes a bit of concentration to decipher it.

I'm delighted that perhaps the most ambitious steel guitar-related material ever created is going to be available for generations to come. I can hardly imagine the effort Buddy himself must have put into that tablature. I think I recall a story that he'd spend hours in hotel rooms tabbing out his stuff without his guitar next to him for reference!

i just bought the basic c6 from jim and it is great. there's more than enough there to play great c6. jim will get it to you fast too.
