Fans of Mooney, take note
I just received two DVDs and a CD from my friend Glenn Kastner, known professionally as Glenn Cass. Glenn was a mainstay in So. California in the 60's as a bassist, guitarist, and frontman, and worked for years with both the great Gene Davis and the Star Routers, and with Red Rhodes and the Detours. When I was too young to get into the clubs in LA, I would religiously watch these guys on TV, learning how to play C&W.
Back in 1996, Gene Davis, Glenn, forumite Fred Jack, and Mooney got together to record one of Moon's best albums, entitled "Moon at Midnight: The Toppa Sessions." Great music by Gene, Fred, and Moon. The CD is well recorded and Moon's playing is top notch, as we should all expect from this friend and legend. Eight songs, 6 instrumentals and 2 vocals by Gene.
Also, a lot of preliminary jam sessions were videoed; very loose jams, very informal, where you see Moon working out stuff in Glenn's garage, laughing, working over tunes, just getting together with old friends. There's two DVDs worth of material right there, about 4 hours worth of great stuff that made me smile.
I don't have a dog in this hunt other than to say friends and fans of Moon will not be disappointed in his amazing playing. The discs are $20 each. The CD and video material can be ordered from Glenn at https://www.facebook.com/glenn.kastner.73?ref=br_tf

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?
