Has anyone disassembled a pedal quick disconnect fitting? I'm referring to the device that connects the pedal stud to the pedal rod. It looks like two concentric sliding pieces with a spring inside. But how does one go about taking it apart to clean, de-bur, and perhaps polish it up a bit?

I know I can pick up new replacement fittings - but come on - it shouldn't be this difficult! It's like one of those puzzles intentionally designed to frustrate you when you attempt to disassemble.

I believe that the top part is pressed/crimped after the parts have been assembled and that it is not meant to come apart.

And they're cheap to replace, with nice, tight new ones

Bottom line is...you don't.

And if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Play it!
