I was messing around with a tune of mine
last week. When it came time to record
the steel track, I figured maybe I'd
shoot for something a bit different tonewise.

Coooool! Look out Sneaky Pete!

That shows that a steel doesn't have to have a "full sound", and tons of "sustain", to be appealing.

Thanks Jay...brings back old memories for this ex-Fender player!

Very interesting sound. How did you get it? Is the intro the same axe?

That's pretty much the tone of the steel.
It has the original 8 string strat-type
pickup that's wound to about 8K. I guess
it's a combination of that along with how
those old Fenders were constructed that makes
them unique. The intro was actually done
playing regular slide guitar on a '65 Strat.
But anyway....thanks for the compliments
so far. I sure appreciate 'em!!!

Love that sound!
I like the sound of steel with B3 in the background too.

Sure is nice to hear something a little different for a change. And you played everything on this? Great job!

Jay,

Check this out. I have never cared for 99% of any R & R sounds; especially those using any form of distortion.

But I must say friend, IF they had sounded like what you did, I would have to rethink my dislike for it. You do it up fine bubba.

Thanks for sharing it with us. I really enjoyed all of it.

May Jesus continue to nurture your talents,

carl
