I was messing around with a tune of mine
last week. When it came time to record
the steel track, I figured maybe I'd
shoot for something a bit different tonewise.

That shows that a steel doesn't have to have a "full sound", and tons of "sustain", to be appealing.

Jay... YIKES!!!.... very very nice!!!.. That Fender sound is CLASSIC!! I heard some Pete Klienow influence there I think,but your fine playing comes though strong! You should be proud of your ability....great stuff! bob

Very interesting sound. How did you get it? Is the intro the same axe?

That's pretty much the tone of the steel.
It has the original 8 string strat-type
pickup that's wound to about 8K. I guess
it's a combination of that along with how
those old Fenders were constructed that makes
them unique. The intro was actually done
playing regular slide guitar on a '65 Strat.
But anyway....thanks for the compliments
so far. I sure appreciate 'em!!!

Jay,

Check this out. I have never cared for 99% of any R & R sounds; especially those using any form of distortion.

But I must say friend, IF they had sounded like what you did, I would have to rethink my dislike for it. You do it up fine bubba.
