Tone Bars, Great new Idea!

Post by Glen Porter »

New Idea for P.S.G Tone Bars..... by using two types of steel in it's construction, Bar weight, Sustain and Tone can be noticeably improved.
Designed for players wanting improved Bar control when playing forward and reverse slants, Hammer on and pull off's while enhancing Tone and Sustain.
This is possible by shifting more bar weight to the Ball or Radius end of the Bar, by using very dense fine micro grain carbide ( Hard next to diamond ), with highly polished 440 (magnetic) or 316 (non magnetic) Stainless Steel. Please see Ptc below
Made in 1 inch 7/8 and 3/4 inch diameter X 3.400 inch long for !0 string Guitar.
Introductory price for each Bar is 28.00 + 2.00 shipping. All feed back or comments welcome. Thanks...

I got one of these in Dallas and have been using it ever since...it feels great and is slick as can be. I love the sustain, and I highly recommend these bars.

I'll second what Billy said about these bars. I love mine. It's the non-magnetic one. Hard to describe, but it simply plays and sounds better than any of my other bars. I also can't believe what a great value these bars are, and Glenn's a great guy. I'm going to order another one before he comes to his senses and raises the price!

Is there a PayPal or other means of ordering besides telephone? Or did I miss that?

Any guidance much appreciated.

My thanks in advance.

Nu Generation Tone Bars

Post by Glen Porter »

The Question is what is the difference between 316 non Magnetic and 440 Magnetic Stainless Steel Bars. The original choice of material was 316 SS, which sustains very well and has a slightly sharper tone which seems to excel at higher volume. 440 magnetic steel is preferred by players that want that mellower sweet tone that you would need in a small room playing to a listening audience as opposed to say a Dancing Audience.
In our opinion, adding the Centered Carbide, which has a hard, heavy and dense structure ( shifted to the nose of the bar ) allows the sonic vibrations of the strings to the Pickup to react in a way which enhances tone and sustain, the bar also feels and handles better and facilitates cleaner tone when playing single string notes, reverse and forward slants, hammer on and pull of's. Thanks! Glen

Just ordered two 1" bars a couple of days ago (one for me and one for my nephew). Very eager to see how they work in comparison with my BJS bar and a red colored bar that my friend, Scott Anderson, sent to me.

I've always loved the BJS bar, but since my stroke and the associated nerve damage I have, my hands produce no moisture now; they're dry and slick all the time. Consequently, it's difficult to hang onto my BJS bar now and doing bar slants is out the window for me. The red bar (called, I think, a Red Raja?) is easy to hold onto, but it's a dreadful heavy thing that quickly wears my arm out and causes some ataxia in my left hand after use.

I'm hoping these new bars will help in my bar slanting as I rehab into playing steel again. As much as I love my knee leavers, there're expressions that I can get with forward or backward slants that I just can't produce with a lever.

I'm also intrigued with the two different metals ... my initial order is for the 316 non-magnetic with the light blue insert. I'm going to order myself a second bar in the 440 magnetic and, so I don't confuse it with my 316 bar, I'd like the 440 to have that bronze/brown colored insert as in my example.

Image

As I work hard to rehab into steel, I'll be putting both of these babies through the paces. Very eager to start playing with them. An extra bar with a different sound can always be a plus at times. :)

My nephew is eager to try his new bar as it will be his first steel bar. His bar is also the 316 bar with a light blue insert like mine.
