transcribing ???

Post by Cory Dolinsky »

Ive been transcribing from diferent devices such as a record player and such. Some of the records and video cassettes are not at 440, with the steel so i either plus or minus a little with my barhand. will this screw my intonation up in the longrun.

I don't think so, Cory. If they were ALL off by the same amount, maybe you'd get used to playing always so much sharp or flat of the fret, but I'm sure they are all flat or sharp by DIFFERENT amounts, so you never get fixated on one spot. My guess is that it will only serve to improve your hearing so that you'll end up playing more in tune than ever before. And the experience of transcribing will also be great for your ears, so you'll be way ahead. Don't worry, be happy. Image
