Emmons p/p tech question

Post by Brad Sarno »

Is there harm or benefit in using the lower-stop screws to snug the lower fingers up against the body assisting the springs? This, of course, is only on the strings that dont need to lower. It seemed to me that just lightly snugging the screw to make the finger have more solid contact with the body may help with the tone and sustain. It doesn't appear to interfere with anything. Anyone???

Hi Brad,
Those springs hold that finger pretty tight to the body already, but I don't think it would hurt anything to do as you said.

On my Emmons S12U P-P the high F# doesn't raise or lower, so I adjusted the raise finger to be in firm contact with the body at all times.
It's a "transferance of energy" thing, if you will...

BTW, did you try your idea?...
My first thought is you might need a longer allen screw.

See you soon in St.Louis!
Pete
