I've created a way to have Exotic Wood on our S8 Console with penny's on the Dollar expense output.
All you need is some time and desire to be careful - we have done all of the hard parts for you with CNC and Laser exacting precision.
The Veneer is available in numerous Wood Species, the below photos are of KOA over Poplar Wood, we can get Flamed Tiger Maple for example.
It took me about 8 hours to glue the .020 thickness solid wood Veneer on, including simple heat bending at the head stock area with a Hair Dryer and Q-Tip water.
All of the Veneer is pre cut on the Laser to drop right on the blank with minimal sanding.
TightBond III was used for most of the gluing and a little bit of 5 minute Epoxy.
The Side Bands are pre cut with the Laser , it requires simple sanding to smooth out the long cut before you glue it on.
After Getting every thing glued on I apply Epoxy Thinned with Denatured Alcohol to seal - grain fill and lightly darken.
4 Coats of CAB Acrylic Lacquer with light Steel Wool between Coats.
