Milkman buffered effect loop now available

Post by Tim Marcus »

The Milkman Pedal Steel Amplifier has a new option - a tube buffered effect loop.

Here is how it works - a low impedance tube driver takes preamp signal and sends it to your effects

A high impedance tube stage takes the signal back in, and there is a receive knob to adjust the gain to match the amp when the loop is bypassed.

The loop costs $150 and currently can only be added on to the 85W steel amp and 50W Sideman Milkman models.

A buffered effect loop plays nice with all kinds of solid state and digital devices ranging from guitar pedals to rack effects. Either amplifier with the effects installed still has the tube reverb system featured in the standard version.

Custom configurations are possible, just send me an email if you want to know more!

Looks like my amp....

In fact, that IS my amp, the first with an effects loop.

And I must say - though I just received the amp - put in the tubes and fired 'er up ...WOW what a fabulous sound!
While I was definitely impressed with my Little Walter, having used solid state amps nearly all my playing years, this Milkman amp somehow just hit the sweet spot. The new Telonics speaker undoubtedly helps (it was just coming in as a new contender), but I just have to say how fine an amp this is; and I have yet to really explore it. Warm, with a LOT of power, nice reverb to boot.

Thanks, Tim, for answering all my (amps-for-dummies) questions. Can't say as I understood too much of how the loop works, but it does, and that's what counts. Adding a loop was essential to me, and as it wasn't originally an option, Tim gets an extra star for his customer service.

Thanks Daniel!

I love doing custom builds like these - the best amps I make are sometimes based on customers ideas ;)
