Is this a good starting price. I thought I would submit a bid. I am very interested in this guitar. |

The price seems to be high, but I'm not the one to really know. I'd be surprised if you could build that guitar for less. |

This Steel is in pristine looking shape. And it does have a very hefty price tag.
I am totally excited to see these old Wrights come out of storage, and back into the public eye.
They are like Vintage car's that have been parked in a garage for years untouched and everyone has forgotten about them. And then they start to show up on the scene and become rare treasures.
Just a thought. |

Yeah, it's killing me! I'm going to be in Ontario, California in two weeks...it'll probably be there still...how do I sneak it home, on a plane, and past my wife who will be with me in Cali? And, can I borrow a couple of grand? _________________ RICK ABBOTT

I also saw this yesterday.
Easy to see it's a beautiful instrument in pristine condition.
I never stop being amazed at the prices people ask for vintage instruments.
For half that price I bought my primo 1992 Lexus four years ago that I still drive without almost any but basic tune ups, etc. A lot more involved in the car than in this steel.
For me, I think this Wright Steel would be a very cool one to own, but for that much money I could have bought three modern 10 or 12 string instruments on the forum.
Cool a it is, it is a dated and very limited instrument not able to do much that a modern pedal steel can do....
It's like a horse, easy to buy and pay too much and hard to sell.
I'd pass on this and if I had that many $$$$ in my pocket I'd buy three ounces of gold while the price is down. _________________ Inlaid Star Guitar 2006 by Mark Giles. SD-10 4+5 in E9th; http://luthiersupply.com/instrument-gallery.html

It would be a bad idea to purchase this as a first steel. I'm not sure if the original respondent is aware. |
