The price seems to be high, but I'm not the one to really know. I'd be surprised if you could build that guitar for less.

This Steel is in pristine looking shape. And it does have a very hefty price tag.
I am totally excited to see these old Wrights come out of storage, and back into the public eye.
They are like Vintage car's that have been parked in a garage for years untouched and everyone has forgotten about them. And then they start to show up on the scene and become rare treasures.
Just a thought. Smile Very Happy Smile Very Happy Smile Very Happy

I also saw this yesterday.
Easy to see it's a beautiful instrument in pristine condition.
I never stop being amazed at the prices people ask for vintage instruments.

For half that price I bought my primo 1992 Lexus four years ago that I still drive without almost any but basic tune ups, etc. A lot more involved in the car than in this steel.

For me, I think this Wright Steel would be a very cool one to own, but for that much money I could have bought three modern 10 or 12 string instruments on the forum.

Cool a it is, it is a dated and very limited instrument not able to do much that a modern pedal steel can do....
It's like a horse, easy to buy and pay too much and hard to sell.

I'd pass on this and if I had that many $$$$ in my pocket I'd buy three ounces of gold while the price is down.

It would be a bad idea to purchase this as a first steel. I'm not sure if the original respondent is aware.
