Raphael McGregor - New album and videos!

Post by Raphael McGregor »

Hi All,

Mike Neer was kind enough to give me a shout out about this, which I really appreciated, and here's the rest of the info about my new CD, the first that I have made as a leader. You can find it on CDBaby here:

And here are some videos taken from my CD release party:

Welcome! I'm enjoying your music and looking forward to owning the CD.

What tuning(s) do you use?

I first saw Raphael at Mike Neer's Steel Show at the Rodeo Bar a few years ago.....he was playing with Nation Beat, a diverse world music group.....and I was enamored with his playing.....I also attended the PSGA Show in CT this past November where Raphael played a wonderful and diverse set.......

Actually.....here's a clip from that show of Raphael & Nation Beat.....please pardon the lighting, or lack thereof......

Thanks! I use C6 on my six-string and have a Fender D8 which I have in C6 (low A, high G) and I go back and forth between different versions of E9 on the top neck...mostly I play in C6 though, as well as some open tunings.

Sometimes I tune the C6 to BEGG#BE to get more bluesy sounding stuff, and I occasionally switch to a glass slide when I do that...poor man's slide guitar!

Appreciate you checking out my music!

Hi Raphael,
Good to see you on the Forum. I enjoyed meeting you at the PSGA show. Nice CD, too! Keep on making that steel sing!

I don't know how I haven't heard of you before, but i'm sure glad you posted this. My kind of lap steel playing. Looking forward to getting the cd that I ordered. Thanks for that little you tube video on bending strings behind the bar. Coming to Maine anytime soon?
