Post by John H. McGlothlin »

I heard this song for the first time back about 1975 on a juke box in Richlands VA and its the first time I really got a chance to hear Ralph Mooney play...this solo has stuck with me ever since. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IMCBL65ReQ

This is one of his all time greatest rides for a slow tune IMHO.

That's great stuff. Personally, I like the ride on the live version of Couple More Years better, though both are great. His rides on The Last Letter and Waltz Me To Heaven are hauntingly beautiful too.

How many of the really great Steel Players would get applause after playing a chorus in the middle of a Headliner's song. The audience loved Ralph's playing as much as his fellow Musicians. Waylon realized this and always gave Ralph his space.
