Thanks, Dan, I was awaiting the resurrection of this thread -- thought I might have to do it myself. Susan, good stuff. As usual, it really knocks me out. No value judgment intended: These performances remind me of some of the music that I listened to back in the mid-60s. Thanks.
There's a joke about 'humans invented language to satisfy a deep need to complain'. After more than a little thought, I believe that we invented music to induce the ecstatic state. There may have been a little feedback loop there. YMMV.How did music start?
