Away In A Manger / Silent Night

Post by Jim Lindsey (Louisiana) »

It's getting that time of year again when many of us will be expressing Holiday Greetings and Season Cheers through music.

Here's something, a little early, to express my sincerest wishes for a Happy and Safe Holiday season to each and everyone of you ... a simple rendition of Away In A Manger and Silent Night. May all your holidays (Thanksgiving as well as Christmas and New Year) be filled with happiness and blessings. :)

I actually recorded this little video last year right after I'd started playing steel again, but thought I'd use it this year for the moment (the recent fall in temperatures has the nerve damage in my right arm acting up, so I haven't been playing much lately). When this nerve damage settles down a bit, I'll try to get a new and better video done. :)

I apologize for any of the slight distortion you might hear ... instead of using my Hi-8 camera, I'd used my S-VHS camera and the mic on it is easily overdriven (unlike the mic on my Hi-8 which picks up sound extremely well).

Excellent Jim.
I look forward to seeing you next year again.
Are you still smoking them 'electronic' cigarettes?
Still on the real things myself..

Nice playing Jim. I believe that is one of Dave Seddon's tracks?

Good morning, guys ... wow ... thanks for all the nice comments! Very much appreciated. :)

Dave, yep, I'm still doing the e-cig thing with the electronic cigarettes. Very successful except when I'm doing a gig in a really smoky club; then I get a pack of real ones "just in case". Looking forward to seeing you, too, in Dallas.

Bent, thank you and for jogging my memory about the track! Yep, I do believe it is a Dave Seddon track. I could not remember who it came from (yikes, I hope that doesn't mean I need to start taking Centrum Silver, Geritol or Ginko Biloba ). I recorded that little video last year right after coming off that nine year break from steel. So many people have been so kind over the last year, sharing tracks with me so I could practice and play along with ... and I'm finding it's easy to lose track of whom and from where each track came. :)

Well, it's only a couple of days before Christmas and it's going to be really busy around here with friends dropping by. My dog, Angel, is very excited as she loves company dropping over. :)

Just wanted to wish everyone a very blessed, merry and happy Christmas as we observe, in our own ways, this day that we set aside to celebrate our Savior's birthday. :D

Hi Jim! Great playing, and amazing tone as usual.
Hope you have a great Christmas, and a Happy New Year. Hopefully we can get together and do some more playing in 2011.
