That would be interesting, Roger , Id also like to see "Stargazing" and "southern sunday" tabbed out .
Ive always been a big BIG admirer of Pete Drake since hearing "stargazing" when I was 10 yrs old and the two starday grand ole opry LPs he played on (the oprys 39th and 40th anneversary albums ) he plays some great out of the box pedal steel for the time and are my most treasured albums.
It got to a point in my early teens where I wouldn't buy a record if Pete Drake wasn't on it !!!
I came to appreciate other steel players slowly over a few years but Pete will always be the one that pleases my ears.

Ahh the old vinyl with crackles and pops, how did we ever put up with it for so long?
Lovely C6th Pete Drake track, not so sure about the effect in the second half but he was always trying to offer sounds that maybe other producers might hear and want to use.
A lovely player who probably didnt promote himself enough doing this kind of stuff considering some people think he only plated E9th in the studio.

I've checked back in my papers and could not find the reference I need...I had thought my interview with Hal Rugg would verify that he wrote My Bluest Day but it does not. There is also the chance that my mentor, Tommy Vollmer told me that while he was teaching me the song.
It uses the M-7/M-9, so called Bob White pedal predominantly. But a lot of it is also the change Bob taught me that raises the high E and lowers the middle E, each a half tone on the C6th tuning.
It is unusual that in the Rugg interview, he stated that had removed the M-7/M-9 pedal because; " It was getting in the way..."
I have never seen a tab on it and have been away from playing too long to recall it now. The effect in the second half is a Fender tremelo circuit. Their circuit took the signal below zero on the cut-off portion which was also the effect that Duane Eddy used on his recordings.
Regards, Paul

Definately written by Hal. You can see it on the credits of Pete's "Forever" LP. I played the heck out of my dad's copy of this in the early 60's. I was 4 or 5 years old. Some my earliest steel guitar memories. And even then I liked this tune so much more than the rest of the talking steel numbers on that LP.
Herb Steiner's "Texas Bandstand Favorites" CD also has a great version of this tune.
