Something special that happened in the studio last week.....

One of the songs we are working up with Ron Rogers and the Wailing Wind for an upcoming release:

Not a finished product yet but sweet enough to have me thanking heaven again for the places I get to be sometimes....

Ron wrote the song only recently and we have been fooling around with it some; this particular recording captured one of those rare moments when everybody shares with utter sensitivity and care and opens the floodgates of sacred art.

The players: Ron Rogers, guitar and lead vocals; Don Campbell, bass and bg vocals; Jeff Minnick, drums; yours truly, pedal steel, feeling mighty lucky to be given so much leash on such a purty tune and trying my darnedednest to play in tune and not muff it up....

Good vibe, cool tune and playing, Dave. Sounds like you feel lucky for your musical opportunities. I do, too.

Don and I have been trying for years to find a project to work on together, Jeff and I go back too far to remember. Besides being another solid brother to work with Ron writes and performs a diverse mix of intelligent swampy, bluesy, country songs, all with room for the steel and/or dobro to stretch out on - what's not to like about that?

More of these tunes are already up on the band's demo site:

It's big fun for all and we are experiencing a high level of synergy on a regular basis, so yeah Brian, I'm singing the Johhny Appleseed song a bunch these days....

I really liked that - song, playing, all the room you got on steel. Looking forward to the final mix.
