Bulgarian Steel Guitar - video + copedent

Post by Susan Alcorn (deceased) »

Here is the link to a video of my solo version of the song, popularized in the mid-1980s by the Bulgarian State Television Female Vocal Choir, Kalimankou Denkou (Godmother Denkou):

Or if you'd like to download this video with better audio quality, go here:

I hope you enjoy it.

Susan, That was magical. Although unfamiliar to my ears, your playing style is unique and your touch is precise and sensitive.
Thanks for doing your part in taking the pedal steel guitar out of its country cubbyhole and showing the world what a wonderfully versatile instrument it really is.

Susan, that was an amazing display of focus and musical knowledge mixed with intense feeling. I usually don't get drawn in by your pieces because my mind doesn't connect the dots with the complicated music you play. But this one took me on a luring ride and I loved watching your fingers bringing the bass, chords and melody to life. I would love to see your copedent if you could post it or a site it may be on. Again, thank you for sharing this one and it's in my favorites now.

Thank you Bent, Rick Schmidt, Billy, Marcel, Lee, Rick Nicklas, Joerg, and James for your kind comments. I'm glad you liked the music.

Rick, I don't think I have my copedent posted anywhere, but I've uploaded a file on sendspace that you can download (for free, of course) if you'd like to see my tuning and pedal setup. Here's the url: http://www.sendspace.com/file/snaavy

Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares! I hated a cappella music until I heard that 4AD record. How cool of you to do one of those songs on steel! Looking forward to your next record, Susan!
