Tommy, thanks for posting this great interview. My all time favorite steel player.

Very interesting. He started playing at 7 years old. It seems like so many of the pedal steel juggernauts began playing as children. Lloyd, Tommy White, Paul Franklin, Mike Johnson, ...more recently Randle Currie, they all have that in common. It seems almost to be the prerequisite that separates very good players from the superstars. I don't think any amount of practice can offset the advantage of having had an early start on the instrument.

Nice interview, Lloyd Green is so thoughtful and articulate.
Just as articulate are those little clips of his playing. He really "speaks" with his music. I love the bite, growl and sparkle he makes with just his ShoBud and Fender tube amp. Wow.
I'm glad he's recording now in the "alt country" scene (whatever that is
The Peter Cooper projects feature LG's guitar front and center! Real steel intro, fills and solos--something not often heard in "today's" country music.

Yes, always a favourite of mine, I met Lloyd at the 1979 Wembly Festival of Country Music here in the UK, and I can say, apart from being a wonderful Steel Player, he is also a Gentleman and very warm person to be in the company of.
The thing I find interesting about this video, and also his own words, just him the Sho-Bud and the Fender Amp, no great stack of effects by his side which most players of today seem unable to take the stage without.
James.

Lloyd is a wealth on information.
I value his opinions,
He should write a book.
