First Video, Different Style

Post by Daniel Morris »

Here's a rather mellow tune my "prog/art rock" band INTRA does. Leisurely finding our groove, with plenty of space for expression (and an E-Bow Plus). Not country, but I love being able to put pedal steel to other uses. Hope someone enjoys it...

Dan,
It was different for sure but I liked it. It was neat to hear the ebow again. Although you used it quite a lot, I still say that you didn't overuse it. I feel that's because you had your volume right, and it wasn't distorting.
Keep playing the steel. You're on the right track.

Any other thoughts?......

Thanks, Bent.
Actually I am using some distortion, but at low gain. The E-Bow is a fascinating tool; I'm finding that judicious use can yield a 'cello or viola -like effect. I wouldn't just set it down on a string and let it ring indefinitely - that simply doesn't sound right to my ears.
Anyone else care to share a thought, positive or negative?
Thanks.

I liked it. I think you got a really nice e-bow sound and ambiance going and I also like the very pretty tone you got during the chorus. Good stuff and I can relate - I am playing a show with an indie band next week and I find playing steel in non traditional musical roles a lot of fun. Carry on!

Thank you, Gary & Paul. Sometimes it's tough letting people know we play an INSTRUMENT, and instruments are not imbued with the capability of performing only one type of music.
This band, INTRA, is in the final stages of mixing/mastering our CD, my first disc with them. With a little help from my son, I will try to post a track or two from it when all is finished.

Thanks, Jim.
I'll probably provide links to the band's myspace page when the new songs are put in the player. I'm working on my own myspace page, but don't have anything there yet. I'm not clear on how to upload music from my computer or a CD, but I'm working on it.
