This looks awesome! I have a definite soft spot for Marlens, my first steel was a 1975-built D10 in walnut formica with the pull-release changer, and it played well and sounded rich, balanced and warm. There was no hint of "thin-ness" about the sound, especially through the Fender Vibrosonic Reverb with a 15" Cerwin Vega speaker. It also stayed in tune well, although I do recall the top two tuning-keys on each neck had to be turned so it fitted into the case, needing a slight tweak after setting up. It was a minor thing that never bothered me, and I regret selling my old Marlen.

This one looks like an Emmons setup, all-pull model, and not being too au fait with the Marlens, I'm guessing it's a late-model. Interesting-looking pickups too, different from the ones on mine. As I recall, the Marlens were built! It should have "tone to the bone" and I am surprised no-one has taken the bait on this one. If I lived in the CONUS I'd be in my car driving to pick it up right now!

Come on guys, this is a fine instrument needing a good home to help the friend of a forum-member. Additionally, the lucky new owner will have a genuine piece of steel-guitar history which has decades of pleasure and pride of ownership still to give.

Honestly, there are times when living in the southern hemisphere is so frustrating!

I was very surprised to hear the tone that Tony Arrowood's Marlen has. It was the first time in years that i'd heard one.You can hear him play it and play it well on Youtube. Give him a listen.

The pickups look like Bill Lawrence 705's. That explains the tone.
