Has anyone else noticed what Buddy is doing at .23 and .30 in ?? His left hand fingers, behind the bar, are raised off the strings allowing them to ring on both sides of the bar. Usually done on the 12th fret, it can be achieved at other frets by skilled hands.
This is the first time I have actually seen this being performed but it raises another question...
Is there a designation or name given to harmonic points ?? Would you call the chimes at the 12th fret (open strings.) an octave while those at the 7th fret might be called the Dominant ??
And would those at the 5th frett be called Octave'' or what ?? I have never seen this discussed and was just wondering because Buddy uses them on this song, (Half A Mind.) with pedals and that was where this question came up. If the 7th fret is the Dominant, what does it become when the pedals are down ? I know what the key names are, I just have never heard a designation for this chime effect.
Regards, Paul
