"In Honor of Mr. Charlie Stepp"

Even though we never met we spoke many times on the phone and Charlie treated me like family! I was looking at my Derby this morning thinking how awesome this steel is. I decided to play this to say thank you for building such a great steel!

Hope this is ok!

Thanks!

Kenny,
Very nice job you did on that song, and such a very loving tribute on your part to Charlie's memory.

Thanks Nick!

It's the least i could do for a man that built such an awesome steel for me!
He was so nice at calling to make sure things were ok.

We talked a good bit over time. I'll miss him!

Take care!

Kenny, That was beautiful, and I love that Derby sound.
If I could play like you do, mine would sound that good.
Charlie was like a brother to me, and I did the videos
for him in the Derby Room in St. Louis for the last 10 years.
He will surely be missed by me, and so many others.

That's some real lovely playing - and I'm not just saying that cause you have a cool last name (!)

Thanks guys!

Don't want any praise cause us steel players are like family even though we sometimes never meet.

I have played Emmons since 1972 and switching was scary for me. I looked around at all of them but found this steel to be solid and faster on the pedal action.

But more importantly Mr. Charlie spent a good bit of time talking with me and told me straight up how he does things without trying to sell me.

It helped a little that the Big "E" and Mike Johnson used this steel for a few months. So i knew it had been broken in by the best.

Thanks for all the kind words but it is a gift from a higher power than me!!

Thanks Jeff! The unison licks i have to say are Tommy Whites in the way they are phrased! He is the absolute best at this as well as everything else!

He has a tab book out that is pretty awesome as well as Buck Ried's! Both of these guys are the top two for me!! Tommy's "By Request" cd and tab book is priceless! Buck's "A Work In Progres" cd and tabs are as well!

I never used tabs much before but these two have open alot doors i forgot!
Take care and thanks again!

Kenny- I managed the time to download your Video. Your Derby sounded real good. Nice country E9. The pedals look pretty fast, nicely adjusted. I am sorry about Charlie, he was one of the good ones...al.:) 8)
