Hi... !

Does anyone know, who is this steelguitarist? I love this song and I know, on the original cut it plays Mr. Emmons.

I have to agree with Ray and I think the bass player is my old buddy Kevin Grant. Maybe Ron Elliot could varify that.

Hi Bernie!

Thank´s for your reply. Yeah, you are right, she has a great voice and looks real nice too

I don´t have any CD of her. Do you know, if there is steel on her studio cuts too and which CD of her would you recommend most.

Best regards... Thomas :D

Tom
Her very 1st CD has Someday Soon on it which was a hit. Do a Google search for it.
I have the CD packed away and can't remember the title, but it doesn't have a dud on it.
A pure vocalist that doesn't need pitch control added to make her sound good.
She is one of my all time singers along with Emmylou.
It is just beautiful.
Don

I did a Google search.
The CD I have is her 1st breakthough Album "Aces".

Looks like you nailed it Robert
Weldon Myrick had told me that he played steel on a cut by Moe Bandy on "Someday Soon"

This one has the credits
at the end.
"Outbound Plane" is also a good one.

Mike Kowalik,
Yes you are absolutely right. . . .fabulous tone from that Emmons Push/Pull, and let me say thank you for having such excellent taste to be able to recognize it. BTW, can someone tell me if Bucky Baxter is related to Jeff "SKUNK" Baxter ?

I had the pleasure to meet Bucky back in the '80's when we opened a show for Lynn Anderson. Bucky was in her band along with Richie Albright on drums, who had just come off the road with Waylon.
Bucky was a good guy.He had an Emmons P/P and I remember thinking how it sounded like he had all the bottom rolled off when he was setting up/ sound checking, but once they started playing I couldn't get over how full and clear his tone was. Made me rethink my live sound....
Shortly later he went on to play w/ Steve Earle and a long stint w/ Bob Dylan. I believe he does some producing in Nashville these days.

I got to jam with Bucky and some of Dylan's band when they came to St. John's in '97. He invited me to the show the next night and we hung out a bit. We met again a few years later in Halifax, where he has a summer place. Really nice guy and a great player, needless to say.

Thank´s for all of your nice replies. I appreciate them much.

Walter, I´m looking forward so much too, to our next trip together this year to St. Louis again. It will be my third time. Puuhh, the time runs

Randy, thanks much for your continual friendship. If I find a new travelingpartner for a new trip to Texas, I would come back as soon as possible. Would be happy too, to see you "someday soon" in San Antonio. Was a great evening with nice Texan Musicians

Don, thanks for your tip with the CD "Aces". I found it on amazon.de, ordered it and looking forward to hear this great Suzy Bogguss.

Chris, nice story. Hope to meet you again this year in St.Louis and hearing the whole story from you.

Take care of you and regards... Thomas :D

The Bass player on this video was a guy by the name of "Rick Yord". I finally found the end credits on the show that confirmed it.

great song, great singer, but I remember one night on the grand ole opry she was half fret flat on the vocals it was terrible. seems like these days most of the stuff coming off that stage the vocals are flat the monitors must be really poor

The YouTube version of "Someday Soon" by Judy Collins featuring Buddy Emmons on steel has been removed due to some kind of copyright infringement. Mr. Emmons did his usual superb job of adding just the right things to the great voice of Ms. Collins. The clip has some great video of the Rocky Mountains, too. Sure hope the problem can be resolved and the video restored to the lineup.
