Tomorrow, Saturday’s (10-4-08) weekly edition of “Swingin’ West” can be heard from 2:00- 3:00 PM (eastern) on WVOF-FM (88.5) in Fairfield Connecticut and streams world wide on the Internet at www.swinginwest.com or www.wvof.org
There is no theme for this week’s show; just a lot of good Western Swing and Western Swing oriented music. The show will open with three Texas tunes by Bobby Lueders, Cow Bop and Hank Stone. Then there are songs about ladies with steel guitar hall of famer Herby Wallace, talented UK band the Swing Commanders and current leader of the Light Crust Doughboys, Art Greenhaw.
You will also enjoy Judy Coder from her brand new CD, steel guitar wizard Chuck Lettes and Germany’s Hermann Lammers Meyer. There is also Jake Hooker from Texas, fiddler Calvin Vollrath from Canada, the Due West Trio from Arizona and country’s Becky Hobbs doing Western Swing.
There is so much more including a Western Concert of with items from new CDs by Royal Wade Kimes, Buckshot Dot and vintage western by Cowboy Slim Rinehart from a new CD of historic material. The closing theme is done by the National Band of Texas, the River Road Boys.
