First recording with new Amp

This is the first recording I have made with my new Amp, its a Vox Valvetronix and I'm mighty impressed with the performance of this Amp. The song is "The Rose" and you can listen here ---

You will have to make allowances for the fact that the Strings are 15 years old, if one breaks I will have to replace the lot, one new string would stand out like a sore thumb. Trying to make it to Christmas, maybe Santa will bring a set.

James, nice tone.Which amp do you have and What amp setting are you using. I have a Vox 60 watt (cloth grill)pro model. I also have a 30 watt with silver front.
I love mine, they are so versatile. I don't know why anyone would need anything else.I was looking for a VC-12 pedal board for mine without any luck, then I went into a local pawn shop and there was one just like new with a tone lab stereo pre-amp for 175.00 about a 600.00 value. The tone lab is awesome for recording as it has all the same setting's.

I have the 15VT, I got it for next to nothing on Fleabay, it was brand new, never out of the bedroom. I recorded this song on Black 2x12, I am absolutely astounded by what I'm hearing from this Amp, only had it a week and still on a voyage of discovery, I love it.

15 years or 15 months? If you can get that kind of sound out of 15-year-old strings, I want to order some!

The Guitar lay under the bed for 15 years, unused, I took it out again in April of this year, same Rotosound Strings. No idea how long they were played before that, This Guitar never breaks strings. I'm enjoying getting started again. I think its the Amp though that deserves the praise.

Nice playing and nice web site. You've aged better than I have according to your photo. You always did make a very good guitar. Just don't hit that A pedal too often and you might make it another 15 years on the Rotosounds.

Thank you Ken, the cold weather up here in Scotland keeps us well preserved, and I'm using Picks and Bar my Grandfather sold to me on his deathbed. I think I will have to spring for the strings though, I have started working in collaboration with Edan Everly, son of Don Everly, on his next CD, and that is a lot of fun. The Everly Brothers were all time favourites of mine and great Country Artists.

I'm glad a friend of mine pesterd the life out of me to get the Guitar out again, I'm really enjoying music again and the friendships here on the Forum, its great too to watch people like Dave Hartley pushing the Instrument to great lengths here in the UK.

James, if you really want that Emmons sound try the Boutique CL. Only problem is you can't get the volume you can with the other amp models. If you ever get a chance to get the big brother 60vtx or the 120vtx you won't regret it. It is one loud Amp with everything you need in one package.I don't carry any effects any more. Its all right there in the amp. Heres a photo of mine, I put a nick on it Sat nite. Its first battle scar

I remember the Vox Amp from the sixties, it was a screamer then. Today this is a very versatile piece of equipment and I can't stop saying how impressed I am with the performance. If I was still out on the road, I would buy the top of the range without hesitation, as things stand right now, my eye is on Fleabay and I will get what I'm looking for in time. I have the bottom of the range 15VT and I can't believe what comes out of this thing, so the Big Brother is a must.

I haven't put it through its paces yet but I just picked up a Vox Valvetronix ADl00VTH unit.
This is a 100 watt head unit with all the bells and whistles. It looks very interesting.

No, I picked this one up from American Musical Supply.
It was a "scratch and dent" special.
I can't see anything wrong with it.
I don't know about the stereo business but there is two "outs" on it.
I also got a two button foot switch to go with it to kick the effects in and out.
It sure has a lot of different combinations on it.

Erv, I have this model in a 30 watt. I bought it at the Guitar Center in Denver. It had all the stage volume I needed. But the 60vtx has so much more than the 30 has, as for as control. For example I can set Delay, verb, compression, chrous and so on, on each bank, which I have four with 32 preset's per bank.
I'm still finding new things everyday.
