August continuous Hour SwinginWest-Mike Gross on line

Post by Mike Gross »

The August edition of the recorded continuous airing of "Swingin' West" has just come up on the Internet on twangtownusa.com. It will be on 24 hours a day seven days a week, over and over, for the entire month.

The theme for this month, August, is cuts from recent Western Swing and Western CDs. Among the sounds you will hear will be from the brand new CDs by John England & the Western Swingers, Kimberly Murray, Jim Stringer and Rick & the Ramblers.

You will enjoy former Asleep at the Wheel Fiddle player, Larry Franklin on vocal and fiddle from the latest Stardust compilation CD as well as cuts from new ones by Buddy Stephens, Brady Bowen and Retta Christie. The great state of Texas is also represented with former AWA Band of the Year, the River Road Boys, the Lone Star Troubadours and Johnny Lyons.

Also heard will be Red Steagall and Dave Alexander from the exciting new CD, “Oklahoma Swing Project” as well as a Western Concert featuring cuts by The Tumbling Tumbleweeds, the Cross Town Cowboys and the combined talents of Curly Musgrave and Belinda Gail. The album closes with Canadian fiddle legend and a 2008 inductee into the Western Swing Hall of Fame- Seattle, Frankie Rodgers.

The recorded edition of "Swingin' West" can always be heard by clicking the mouse on the appropriate spot on the bottom of the home page of the "Swingin' West" web site, www.swinginwest.com

Thank You!

Don,

Thanks for your call for others. I sure hope that they are at least out there listening, especially the ones whose music I play. I have always made it no secret that I love to play the music of my listeners when I have my choice.

Mike...Swingin West is still (hands down) my favourite radio show on the internet and thanks for all your hard work in keeping this often obscure music 'out there'. I have barely forgiven you not not stopping by when your cruise ship was in Cayman but next time!! Cheers, Wil :D

Don and Will I can't thank you enough for your kind words and bumps.

Will, it was just a crazy day when we were in Georgetown last time around but I do promise that the next time we are in the beautiful Caymans we will definitely get together.
