This summer I played with my band Steel'n Blues at Sweden's biggest blues festival. It was our debut performance at that festival so we were quite nervous when we entered the stage to kick off the Saturday night program. Below are some sound clips from the gig, taken directly from the main mixer board. Two original songs and one Billie Holiday song. Hope you like it!
Very nice stuff Jan, loved your steel playing. Here is a link to a site where you can here a band I play with do our version of Fine and Mellow: click here. Ours is a more traditional blues version. The two versions make a nice contrast in styles for the same song.
Thanks a lot for the nice comments! It's great fun to be able to use the pedal steel in this type of band.
David: That was a very nice version of Fine and Mellow. The steel fits perfectly into the song. I suddenly felt the urge to have a similar raw blues song on my set list, too.
Hello Jan,
Is that beautiful steel in your picture (avatar) the blue darling that Ricky Davis used to own? If so you got the best looking steel on earth!!
Yes, I am the current owner of Ricky Davis' blue Fulawka. It has been in my possession for almost three years now and I am very happy to have it. It's a great guitar to play and, in addition, it is a joy to look at everytime I sit down behind it.

Cool! We need more steel players to expand the boundaries of the instrument and bring it into other genres. This is exactly what the steel guitar needs to stay relevant in today's music.
