Post by Jim Konrad »

Does anyone know of anyone that had a Fessenden custom stolen near Detroit Michigan? I might have a lead on it. The one I saw had 5 levers and 7 peddles, 10 string single neck, brass plate with a persons name and a 1998 date on it. Long story..........gotta go for now!

This is the post from craigs list copy and paste

So, did you report him to the Police, or at least to Craig's List?

I cant prove anything yet and I don't think CL cares? I have read a lot of negative posts in the past about this guy. But...Birds eye, 7 peddles, 5 knee, someone misses this PSG.

Man I thought this would be my first PSG!!!

I now know I was kind of stupid!!

Too bad we don't have pics up yet. As I recall, the one in this ad looked a lot like it.

Wow.

Funny thing is, I tried to buy this guitar. I normally check CL throughout the day looking for this sort of deal, but I was about a half hour late on this one.
According the fellow on the phone, he already had a buyer coming up from Toledo (about an hour away) and he didn't want to sell the guitar until this guy had a chance at it. He promised me I would be the next one called if the guy never showed or didn't buy the guitar.
Neeedless to say, he never got back to me.
I wonder who got the guitar? Did someone offer him more money? Did he finally realize the guitar was underpriced and held it for ebay?
I don't want to jump to conclusions, but it looks like this guy broke his word twice.

FWIW, the local guitar show was two weeks ago. Gordy runs it so he gets first look at everything that comes through the door.

I just got off the phone with Gordy. With him not knowing about this thread, I called to follow up and see what he would say about not calling me.
Sure enough, he told me 'the guy showed up and got the guitar'. Jim, if your story is true, and I believe it is, he just lied straight to me. Whether or not the guitar was stolen, I will never set foot in this man's shop again nor attend one of his guitar shows.

Sorry this had to happen to you Jim.

Yep,

Live and learn, I drove to Wisconsin for a guitar, I am glad that guy was honest. I have seen a lot of people posting about Gordy and his evil ways.

I was wondering if anyone else on here saw his post. I wonder who has it now??? He does have a flea bay store, I will be watching for it!! When I called him I said I am calling about the steel guitar for sale on CL. I asked him why he was selling it, he said " I buy and sell guitars.........Do you know who I am.. I am Gordy's music" As soon as he said that, I already knew who I was dealing with, because of the things people post on CL and what you hear talking among other musicians. He posted it at $450...I said I would driving from Toledo and If he would take $400 cash I would leave now. He said,OK.

.......................................................................

I have something for him far into the future. One day someone will do the same thing to him but no gas money! ( He gave me $30 dollars / I used a vacation day because of this!) I am sure he will not have the same feeling as I had, thinking that I was about to buy my first PSG and what looked to be a nice one at that.

No I will take the high road.....I think?

I'd call him up and pretend I was selling an old Fender Stratocaster that was my Dad's for $200. I'd make him drive 2 hours to get it and as soon as he gets there I'd tell him I just sold it.... Then I'd say "It was just an old Fender guitar from 1957 anyway and the fella was so nice he gave me $100 for my Dad's old Telecaster and $50 for that old cloth covered Fender bass amp with the 4 speakers"

I don't believe the guitar was sold. If the guy deals in musical instruments he knows he could get more than the asking price for the guitar. With him being a musical instrument dealer the price should have been a warning that something was not just right. He may be trying to build a reputation as a low price dealer, but not selling the merchandise. Most people don't care about a persons reputation, if they can get a good deal on a purchase. Just my oppinion.
