Do you want to keep the originality of the
guitar. If not go into it and put a regular 1/4 inch plug in it.
I bought a used old steel and it had one and
I am going to change it.
It had a loose connection, but I dont know if it was in the cord or the jack.

The original connector on the National was an Amphenol brand. Valco put them on other guitar brands also. Angela probably has what you need.

My National Dynamic has the Amphenol type jack on it...when I got David Lindley to autograph it, he said that his National had that type jack & he had changed it to a 1/4 inch jack & it did not sound as good. He told me not to change mine, to play it as long as I could & change it only if I had problems with it. I carry 2 of the adaptors that screw on & have a female 1/4 inch so that I can use any regular guitar cord.

Thanks guys, especially re to change or not to change, it sounds pretty 'out there' at the mo so I'll leave as is and go the amphenol way
