Awesome. It never fails to amaze me what people with talent do with instruments. This gentleman has put a few Scruggs tuners on a conventional guitar, tunes to what is probably an open chord, then works wonders with the instrument. Give it a listen, you WILL enjoy this...

Adrian Legg is from the UK, I worked with him once on BBC session, he turned up on a motorbike with the guitar strapped to his back, very nice guy. Here a interesting

Hi Guys
In 1967 I was in a band with Adrian in Liverpool (The Rock Springs) At the time I played bass and Adrian was living in a bedsit in an area known as Gateacre in Liverpool. The guitar he used at that time was a green Gretsch single anniversary, and even in those days he was a phenomenal player and used banjo strings for his top two strings and played steel licks even then. Pre-dating by years the later 'names' who claimed the destinction.We played a lot of the clubs in Liverpool and even the guitarists of the famous Merseybeat bands of that era were mesmerisedby him.
We recorded two of his instrumentals for the BBC in London at The Aeolian Hall in New Bond street,'The Gorsey Hop' and 'Knotty Cross Breakdown'. He used to sit on a stool with his head down smoking a little pipe and play the most wonderful licks.

The first time I saw Adrian was with the Lorn Gibson Trio in 1969, this chubby young kid with a Telecaster tucked under his chin, it was that high,but the licks he was playing even then it was something special. Later on in the seventies he was with the Kingpins an Irish band on the London Fullers Cicuit,he had a Telecaster that he had drilled holes in the body and it had numerous pick ups.From then he worked for Rose Morris in London doing repairs and set ups and got the Ovation deal which he still has today.A truly amazing and gifted player.

I saw Adrian here in Nashville at the Sutler sometime around '97 or '98 (I think) This was shortly after his "High Strung Tall Tales" CD came out. Absolutely brilliant stuff, no filler. Truly an amazing guitarist. He occasionally hangs out on the rec.music.makers.guitar.acoustic (RMMGA) usenet group.

BTW, "High Strung Tall Tales" is a terrific CD not just for the music, but also for the great stories he tells in between the tunes. I love his take on the "music business". A couple of quotes:

(About his record label): "I'm the closest thing they've got to Ray Charles, because I've got glasses."

(About an actress he worked with in a video): "She emoted like nobody's business. And she had about a 300 yard range, basically. She could splatter hormones across the back stall."

(About a singer in another group he played a gig with): "She wasn't just pregnant, she was agriculturally pregnant. She was vast."

Kept me laughing for weeks.

More about Adrian Legg. After his stint with the "Kingpins" he had a short time with "Country Fever" I used to go watch them at the Red Lion pub in Brentford Middlesex. He was playing a heavily doctored telecaster!! the front cutaway was cut right down, and he then was playing through a German "Stramp" amp. Originaly Country fever had Albert Lee on Guitar, then Roger Dean....then Adrian Legg. There was a story that at one pub gig, after the break, he wasn't to be found anywhere. Apparently he had hailed a taxi and gone home, left all his gear on the stage. One drink too many perhaps in his wilder days

I went to see Adrian some years ago at the Ocean City, NJ, convention center right there on the beach. It was evening (dark, and before the concert he was standing out front near the entrance smoking a cigarette, and I was on the other side of the boardwalk walking towards the place. I recognized him instantly, but I noticed everybody else walking into the hall walked right past him without recognizing him. I walked up to him and tried to think of something to say that was not dumb and perhaps maybe just friendly, sort of a welcoming attitude... I think I said, "Well, you ready?" I can't remember his EXACT reply, but he muttered something about how the the cigarette would help clear his mind or something of that nature, very dry humor, which he came out with all night. He handled a heckler with dry , sly understatement, and the playing was just incredible, even better than his studio recordings of the same songs....
