Send Your Song File To Be Heard Around The World

Post by Charles Tilley »

My new web host is providing me with 200 GBytes of space so I have room for ALL of those who want to send a file to be placed on the site. This site is heard around the world. If you don't know how to create a MP3 from a CD, let me know, I have a free file that is just so simple to use. You should be heard so send it to me. If you want, just send a CD and I will convert it and put it on the site.

Listen to what others are sending for my web site by going to www.etsga.org/steelguitarplayers.htm Great steel music here.

Send files or get helping making one to charlestilley972@gmail.com

Mail CDs to Charles Tilley 1473 CR 463 Princeton, Texas 75407 cell phone 903-360-1111

Update June 10, 2009:
Hello fellow steelers; I have been posting your songs on my web site for some time now and have had several responses. Some responses were to ask a question or get something cleared up. Maybe editing this post will help do that. I will list what I need to say in the number order:

1. There is no charge to place your song on my site.

2. This site is for anyone regardless of level of play that would like to place a song there. It must feature the steel guitar.Files withsinging will not be posted.

3. Send your song to me at charlestilley972@gmail.com in a Mp3 form. Some songs come to me in a different form and I can convert most of them. Do not send a WAV file. If you send a file of a song that is not your playing but a friend's playing, permission must be given from that player for posting.

4. I place a Mp3 and a Mpeg of the song if possible. The Mpeg allows dial-up folks to download and listen to the songs.

5. Two songs are allowed for each player. Songs can be changed after 25 days.

6. Before sending for the first time, please go to www.etsga.org/playersongs.html and see what information is on the posts and furnish that information to me about yourself.

7. If I have missed anything here that puzzles you, send me an email and I will answer you.

Thanks to all of you who have sent songs for my site and I welcome any new player to join in this effort.

Charles-This is a great site for everyone to get on and listen to their fellow steel players. Thanks for all your work in setting it up.

Can we put two songs up or does one replace the other. I have one now on called "Whispering" recorded in 1950 and the style then. I would like to put a more current one recorded in 1991. Thanks again.....al.:):)

Al, there is a counter on the page displaying the players names (at least ther is one on my computer).
It shows how many hits plus the 7500 that were before I changed web host.

Charles-Thanks for getting my song "Whispering" back on again. It is not too good a recording for these days, but is Historical to show what we did way back then. I Recorded this at a Radio Station on a Wax transcription, direct into the board,In 1950, so it is 57 years old!

Then converted to Reel to Reel when I could, then converted to Cassette when they came out. I sent a copy of the tape with about 6 songs on it to our good friend Jody Carver, a couple of years ago. All were solos , no Accompaniment , Except, "In my Solitude" with a fine guitar rythm, which we did wth a Reel to Reel in my house, later that same year.

I will send one of the songs I recorded at home in 1991, later to put on your site. Great site, I heard quite a few on there so far, by some very good steelers. Thanks .....al.:):)

Charles Tilley-
I listened to Moon's and couldn't hear the steel in the mix. But what I could barely hear sounded good.

I see my song is on ,"Blue Moon taped in 1992 to replace "Whispering" taped in 1950. Thanks.

I made that on cheap tape from the drugstore back then it was 3 for a dollar. I had a Sears dual cassette radio recorder with a bult in Mic .I don't like the sound on it.

I used a S10 Pro1 Sho Bud with 6 pedals and 5 knee levers. I like the sound of the guitar, but I only had a 40 watt Crate amp , I've owned for 19 years and wouldn't compare with the various quality Peavy amps used today.
I use no effects. But however maybe I should use a little Reverb and Delay. I got a RV3, but never used it yet.
There is a lot more songs on there that I want to hear by the forum members.
With my ISP it takes quite a while to download, so I can only do 2 or 3 a night. I have heard 6 or 7 now, and they sound good and well played.
Keep up the good work, Tilley. I know it is a lot of work for you, but am sure we all appreciate it....al.:):)

I love to post the files for all the players. I appreciate all the good things that you are saying about what I am doing but I am doing it for you and not for me. Just keep sending the files and I will honor the rules set forth at the beginning which are:

1, include your city and state or country.
2. send the file as Mp3 or CD (whichever you chose)
3. Files can be changed once each month.
4. Files must feature steel guitar players. Singers are not featured on this site.
5. There is no charge for placing a file on my web site.

I am having a blast. Help me keep it going.

Charles,
Thanks for posting my version of"Beautiful Kahana" on your site.
Cut that tune with my Old Rickenbacker a few years ago.
Those Ricky's have a tone of their own.

Hi Charles,

I have a file I would like to send to your site but it's in the WAV format. Can I send it and have you convert it to MP3? Please advise.
Thanks Bent
