I just saw Hank with Jamey Johnson and despite my previous experience in the late 80s of a Jr. show being bad, this one was not only excellent, but Hank had me hanging on just about every word he said. Lots of references to his dad in the show, all very compelling. I understand a lot more about Hank Jr. and what his life, especially early life, was all about. I'm not a beer-drinker and I don't hell raise, but there's a reason why songs of his are so popular. I can cut him some slack.....

BTW, there were two great pedal steel players on stage as well - one for each act (Jamey's played a few songs with Hank), wish I knew who they were!!!
Mike Daly with Hank and Cowboy Eddie Long with Jamey. Cowboy Eddie used to be in Hank's band in the eighties

I understand there's an audience for this kind of thing, but when people ponied up good money to see Sam Kinison for instance, at least they knew what they were getting beforehand..

I like some of his old music well enough but he's become a caricature. His music and persona are both out there to appeal to the lowest common denominator, half brained hillbilly's.

All this negativity! There you go shooting the messenger, instead of paying closer attention to the actual message of this beautiful song, which is: consuming alcohol is a wonderful way to defuse the potential of violence, and once everybody's good'n snockered their tolerance and empathy towards others is just... well, it's just a sight to behold.

Yeah songs about drankin are stupid and would never work but don't tell Haggard, Jones, Paycheck, Tubb etc....

I love to see the buzzards come out to attack someone who's making a living at doing what we all wish we could do. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, and there have been good songs that made loads of money and pure crap that made money. But in my opinion, we should never dis a brother or sister who's making it doing what we're not. I truly am in awe of the people on this board who I can communicate with that are,in my opinion, royalty of this music. I realize that what they did in order to get there was not all fortune. Would it help to have an "in" to the inner circle? Of course. It would also be fortunate to be born with 4:40 speed or a 96 mph fastball, or a voice like Patsy Cline or of parents who could give me that. Didn't happen. But I have written a number of good songs and had my 15 minutes of fame and it's not over yet. I wish every song I wrote was gold and every note I sang was crystal. That sure has not come to pass, but the ability to put my talents in the same arena as people who I grew up listening to, has made it worthwhile. And in the words of Minnie Pearl, "I'm glaaaad to be here."

I understand how some of us can get po'd at Bo and from our POV wonder why he can't get right at times. Drinking is part of the culture demographics and we could go off on tangents as to why that is.

Hank ll is in his own world like King Ralph. He was pushed into the music business by his Mom the same way she pushed his Dad to move to grander pastures.

I don't drink but use burnt whiskey as medicine and it does work at the right times. Better for ya than Loperamide.

It's good to read and air the disappointment Hank-J's generated though.

I'll give him two thumbs up for brass cojones, however bull in a china shop it may be at times.

This is cowboy poetry and only exists in North America.

Cowboy poetry started out as communication for illiterate blue collar kit shickers. :D

Will Rogers was a cowboy poet. The Will Rogers Award is handed out every year.

Hank Williams Jr. earn the right to be who ever he thinks he wants to be and or pee on a tree anytime he feels like. With his Music he is what he is,Hank Jr., my friend! Just like Toby,Merle,Willie,Strait,Jerry Lee Lewis,Buck Owens and so many more like myself who cut the road the way we see it in free-dow. You think Hank Jr. made a mess out of the White House on the plat form for that guy who is trying to steal or steel our Country as the first King of America? Remember it's all about the steel guitar musicians Music in any form for being a Artist. ;-) The God Father Of Southern California Country Music & a lifetime member of the Academy Of Country Music that I am a shame of the folks who are running it for the kill of their glory. ;-)

Damn!! It's just a Freakin' song. Not a good one in my opinion, but I never thought Hank Jr was any good. Riding on daddy's coat tails.

Well, there are only two things I can say in Hank Jr's defense: Hank III and Holly Williams.
