Streets of Bakersfield 1972

Post by Jerry Brightman »

I have recently received a phone call from Homer Joy, the man who wrote "Streets of Bakersfield" in 1972.

I have put a page up on my website to share this stroll down memory lane, at least for me. I hope you too will enjoy this information and a little history.

Hey Jerry. Great page! Haven't seen you in the chatroom lately. Maybe our paths just haven't crossed. I may be heading up Cleveland way early September, would love to stop and see your shop. When plans get firmed up I 'll drop you a line.

Hi David,

That would be great. My schedule does not permit much spare time, so I get to the chat room maybe once a month.

Jerry,

Glad to see you are still around The Forum.

I still play that Emmons SD10 ya sold me up in Michigan. I moved it to Tennessee. It likes the warmer weather.

If ya get near Knoxville, I'll buy dinner.

Larry: I have known you for a long time, and I'll never forget the day at Pete's Music.

Jack: I remember when Ray joined the Brass, and yes, not only a dear friend, but a super player.

Bob: I'll try to do that.

Jim: Glad your still enjoying the guitar and retirement. Nice hearing from you.

Tony: My schedule won't let me go to St. Louis this year. Just too much going on with playing, sessions, etc.

Bobby: Yes, it would be nice to hear from you and stay in touch. I don't have your email address.

Homer sent me a picture that I have also added to the website page of us playing in 1973.

Thanks again to all,

Jerry

Brings back good memories Jerry, thanks. I was playing at the Barrel House six nights and Mondays at the Blackboard about that time. And doing demo sessions at Bakersfield sound. Wish I was still making all that money. You were a skinny kid that just played his tail off.
