Anybody use the strobostomp instead of the VS II or Stroboflip? I know the stroboflip is the most popular for steel players, but I was just curious to know if the strobostomp would work ok for steel. I saw one on an online music store for $100(B stock)

I've got one that I paid $189 for. It works great. I got the stomp because I wanted it to fit on my pedal board. One thing, I use straight equal temperament, so I don't bother with the modified tunings.

I believe Randy Beavers was using one, and he posted some good reports on it - should come up in a search.

Thanks folks. done two searches, couldn't find Randy's comments. I think I'll wait and try to find a flip on sale or something.

I use one. I have had it for two years and numerous gigs.
The original SS has the best screen for dark or daylight I have ever used. It has true bypass and only medium difficult to set up.
The original SS only had 26 presets,
and would not go flat enough cents on one change of a Jeff Newman tuning or have all the changes of a D10.
I play a U12 and the SS has plenty of presets for an on-stage, noisy room tune up.
The SS 2 has has room for more presets. I have a Stroboflip, as well, and I would trade it for an SS 2. Jon Norris can give you details.
If you want a reference tuner the Stroboflip is the way to go. I do not care to have more than this hanging of the leg of my guitar.

Thanks ya'll. I have a VS I and I've usually always tuned straight up. It seems to do a fine job tuning straight. I just thought I might get the SS or SP and try a few different tunings. I ain't got sense enough to figure out how to get different tunings on the VS I.
$100 sounds like a great price for that strobo-stomp though.
