video clip of Vance Terry

Post by Mylos Sonka »

Here's a little clip that might be of interest to Vance Terry fans. If memory serves this was 1991 or thereabouts. We were playing in Sacramento at the Western Swing Society. This is Vance's solo on Blues for Dixie. Personnel are, right to left: Fiddle Ray Landsburg off camera, Vance, myself on guitar seated next to Vance, Texas Drummer Boy Johnny Cuviello on drums, Piper Heisig on bass and Golden Throat Bruce Stelter on rhythm guitar.

Enjoy.

WOW! Thanks for posting that. Keep'em coming!

Is that the legendary Wright Custom with 21 pedals?

Mylos, thanks for posting that clip. I worked with Cuviello back in the sixty's around the east, west and south bay area. We worked for some time at the Silver Dollar in South San Francisco and Vance was always fantastic. I wonder if John is still around. If so he must be in his 90's by now. Thanks again for the memories.

Thanks for posting that Mylos. That brings back some terrific memories. Dave Z, that is the steel that you speak of. Mylos do you have any clips of the instructional stuff you did with Vance and Paul Gittleson? Isn't that on E9th? Any more clips with Vance would be great.

I know and love Johnny Cuviello.

Back in 2004, I got JC in the studio and cut two songs with him, "Texas Drummer Boy" and "My Mother's Eyes." Pete Mitchell on guitar, Bobby Flores on fiddles, and BB Morse on bass. Johnny Bush as studio guest and drooling. Tunes not released yet, but will be on my next album. Whenever that will come out. To be determined later.
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?
